Ho Ho Ho! -Early Christmas!!!

Posted in Uncategorized with tags , , , , on November 27, 2007 by Dark Knightingale

At the Canal Concerts, this past summer, I had twice entered a contest to win a party for up to 50 people at a local grill from 97 Rock. When I didn't win right away, I pretty much forgot all about it.

97 Rock called me today, and told me I won! They will throw this party for me on either the 7th, the 14th or the 28th of December. -I have to pick one of these days, they will mail me some paperwork to fill out (list of up to 50 people who will be showing up) then we'll party. All I know right at this second is that everyone will get two free drinks and appetizers, but I will update here when I know more about it.

Any of my Vox friends, who are in the Buffalo New York area are welcome to come to this! -I don't know if I can even think of 50 people to invite, so come on out if you can! -Let me know if you can come!

Black Friday…?

Posted in Uncategorized with tags , , , , on November 24, 2007 by Dark Knightingale

Every year, we hear the "horror stories" of the day-after-Thanksgiving shopping blitzes, but we seem to rarely hear any good that happens. -I'd like to tell you some of my pleasent shopping experience today, if you don't mind…

I got up at 5 am, showered and shaved, then went to The Guitar Center, mostly in the hopes of being considered for employment, but also to try for a chance to win a Led Zepplin catalog. (-I didn't win, but I also didn't really care. -I already have a 10 disk set of Zepplins studio recordings. -Most fans do…) I stayed for two drawings, but I also purchased a bag of picks and a set of strings for my Strat.

Heh heh heh… -As I left, I showed the young lady by the door my receipt for the picks and strings, and she said "It's Black Friday, and that's all you bought?" I said, "That's how it is. -I bought what I really needed."

I spent an hour, and thirty minutes just walking around, listening to a few young genius musicians (and wishing I had enough money to hire those excellent riff-players to learn how to play a few of my songs…)

However, the point I'd like to make is that everyone was pleasant (store staff, as well as their customers). Oh, but it gets better…

I also went to Wal-Mart (for reasons I don't wish to discuss) but everyone was pleasent and courteous as well! I also ran an errand, that took me two hours to drive and achieve, and even the drivers on the road were erriely courteous.

(smiles) -It's almost like everyone had suddenly decided they didn't want coal in their stockings, for Christmas this year…

Happy shopping people!

Welcome To My Vox Page!!!

Posted in Uncategorized with tags , , , on November 22, 2007 by Dark Knightingale

My sister went to visit my Mom for the holiday, and she was kind enough to show my Mom how to get here to my Vox page! My Mom is admittedly not really good with this whole "computer thing", and she really doesn't like computers at all, but I told her that she would be able to hear my songs without me having to keep mailing CD's every time I finally record a song.

I decided to post a few right at the top of my page so she could find them easily without having to search my audio section to find them.

Thanks for checking out my page Mom, and I hope you like my songs! -Just click on the arrow to make them play! Also, adjust your speakers! -Some of these songs were recorded better than others, so some might be louder than others. Here's four songs to get you started!

Also, Welcome to my Vox page, those I have recently invited here from!

-Nothing here is PErfect, but things are what they are. I do hope you enjoy my songs!!!

Happy Thanksgiving!!!

Posted in Uncategorized with tags , , , on November 21, 2007 by Dark Knightingale

Back in May, I'd mentioned that we really only "celebrate" two holidays. -We recognize Memorial Day and Thanksgiving every year. And, as usual, we are celebrating Thanksgiving today instead of tomorrow because my wife is working tomorrow. -One of us is working it every year.

My wife is happily scurring about in the kitchen, and our kitties are wondering just what the heck is going on. (The kitties are much happier once we give them turkey, ham, mashed potatoes and Cool Whip!) -Yep! -They get Thanksgiving too!

I went and hung the turkey out front to welcome our guests…

We're having a cool, wet and grey-sky Thanksgiving this year, but it's much brighter inside.

-Maybe I'll post some more pics tomorrow…

Anyways, I hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving!

We, and the kitties, will!

My specialist is sending me to Physical Therapy next week to help me to better cope with the problems I'm having with my lower back. Hopefully, I'll be recording again soon.

I appreciate all of my Vox friends for understanding what I've been going through, and I appreciate everyone's continued patience. Thank you all!!!

I’m Sure I’ll Hate Myself In The Morning For This, But…

Posted in Uncategorized with tags , , , , , , on November 11, 2007 by Dark Knightingale

I've heard it said, many times, that if you write a song, you should also do a video.

About videos, I've always kinda felt like Iron Maiden did many years ago… Video??? Why?

Heh heh heh -After we shot the video for "See You Tonight" a year ago this month, (and on a cheap pocket-sized digital camera) I still feel the same way. Why??? I don't want people to focus on how ugly we are, and how terribly we shoot videos, I want them to enjoy my song!

Anyways, here it is, in all it's raw glory. There's an extra vocal line, and an extra Bass guitar on the video, that is not on the audio version I've posted, because Al and I did this live. -That's Al in the video still, playing the Bass. -I'm the one with the long hair… -Standing and singing with the Electric Guitar. (-I've had my hair cut since then…) Our friend Mike Kaufman shot the video for us with my cheapie camera, in my small studio. I think we all did a good job considering the equipment we had to use…

I hope you are able to enjoy this! The audio quality isn't great, and neither is the video, but we had fun doing it.

Let me know what you think of it!

Here Is A Song I’d Like To Re-create, But….

Posted in Uncategorized with tags , , , , , on November 10, 2007 by Dark Knightingale

Did I mention that I've been posting my songs in no particular order?

heh heh heh. -No, I have not been posting them here in CD order. -Yet…

Concerning this particular song, I currently love what I hear in my head better than what I was able to get recorded here.

-I love this song, but it's in need of serious repair, and I know it.

I ALso know, that I cannot recreate this all by myself, and without my friend, because of the timing involved with it.

(-Unless someone else thinks they could play his part better than he did that night…)

One problem, is that my drummer-who-also-plays-occasional good Bass just plain isn't interested in getting a cleaner recording of this, because he'd rather just "play out". But my point to him is that whenever he comes to play at my house, he IS playing out! -So what if we just spent three hours banging out some newly created song to create a listenable recording???

I NEED him to help me keep some of my timing tighter on a few old songs.

-I thought it was well worth the time and effort we spent on what we've done so far, but I respect his decision to play out, without recording.

Look, I'm human, and I know I'll die someday. -I merely want a nice recording of my songs, because I know I'll someday not be able to physically play them anymore. THAT's what a CD is for.

-For when I get too old.

(-Just plannin' ahead, ya know…) 😉

This recording of "Premonition" was originally done for the "Senseless Crimes" CD, but I'd really like to re-create this song a whole lot cleaner than the recording I'm now placing here for your enjoyment.

I think it's a good song to try to clean up, I think it has a lot of potential, and I hope you agree!

-Let me know what you think of it, and ALso feel free to let me know what you think I could do to improve it's clarity.
