Movie Of The Day

Posted in Uncategorized with tags , , , on April 18, 2007 by Dark Knightingale

Today, for the Movie Of The Day, I decided to do a "Die Hard Marathon". -All three movies, one right after the other. They're coming out with a part four this summer, and I can barely wait to see it!!! It's going to be called "Live Free or Die Hard.

In part one, "Die Hard", John McClane goes to LA to spend Christmas  with his estranged wife. While he's waiting for her offices' Christmas party to break up, the building is taken over by terrorists who want to steal the bearer bonds from the buildings safe.

Part two, "Die Harder", John McClane is waiting to pick up his wife at a major international airport on Christmas Eve when the airport is taken over (once again) by terrorists who want to rescue a drug lord from custody. Airplanes, low on fuel, circle above the airport but aren't allowed to land until their "general" arrives.

Part Three, "Die Hard With A Vengeance" has (yet another) terrorist, Simon, who is bent on getting revenge on John, (John killed his brother in part one) while stealing gold from the downtown depository.

All three of these are great movies, and I look forward to part four, "Live Free Or Die Hard", which is sure to feature more terrorists….

Explanations and “Envision”

KNIGHTRAVEN: Envision
Knightraven

For those of my Vox friends who don't understand the sudden appearance of all of these new people around here… It was announced last week that Columbia Music UK would be accepting song submissions exclusively through Vox. Now, people are randomly selecting others music to listen to, while looking for reviews of their own songs.

Since Columbia Music is in the UK, and I don't have the greatest of recordings, I simply expect my chances of really being "noticed" are slim to none. -About the SAME chances a snowball would have if trying to make it through hell. But that's ok. After eighteen years of songwriting, and going virtually nowhere, I'm comfortable with being able to do the music I like without having to kiss any corporate ass, compromising my style to do what they want OR having to answer to anyone but myself. (-I've heard horror stories…)

That being said, I decided to upload another of my songs, "Envision". This is from my "Senseless Crimes" CD. I really love this song DESPITE it's occasional timing problems, occasional mistakes and lack of digital trickery. I was pleased with it's overall "feel", but I know it needs some work. I posted this one MORE for your enjoyment, rather than your reviews, because I know what's wrong with it… But, I also know what's right with it.

The lyrics (all nine words of it) were partially inspired by my last job as a Nurse's Aide in the Intensive Care Unit. (ICU) This is one good example of my lyrically being able to be both light and dark at the same time.

I hope you find it to be enjoyable, and you can review it if you'd like… But, I'd rather you just enjoy it.

Aw hell… Yeah, let me know what you thought of it!

Easter, The Only One

Easter
Marillion

There's a song for pretty much every holiday, but did you know there's one for Easter too? (No, it's not a church hymn) This is "Easter" by Marillion. I'm going to type out the CD's liner notes about this song for you, because I find it to be most interesting. This is the ONLY Easter song that I'm aware of that isn't a hymn and doesn't suck.

I hope you like this song as much as I do!

Easter 5:56

(Steve Hogarth, Steve Rothery, Mark Kelly, Pete Trewavas, Ian Mosley)

Published by Charisma Music Publishing/Rondor Music (London) Ltd p1989

Produced by Nick Davis & Marillion

It was February '89. I had been with the band for about three weeks. We were at the Music Farm, near Brighton, Sussex. I had this red plastic bucket full of cassettes and tambourines. In the evenings we would listen through to any half-formed musical ideas we had written during the days. If we were stuck for inspiration, Mark would ask me if there was anything in the bucket…I'd written this song about a year before, in early '88, but never got beyond chorus 2 until the band got a hold of it… I was thinking of the "The Skye Boat Song" and I wanted Easter to be like that, but like an anthem for Ireland. It's not a political song, it's a love song – A tribute to the warmth of the Irish spirit, a message of hope and support to the great majority of people who want nothing to do with the gunmen (all the gunmen) but must, nonetheless, raise their children amidst a climate of potential violence. I referred to Yeats' poem "Easter 1916"… More out of reverence to his genius than out of plagarism… Honest! H.

And Then, There Were Three…..

Posted in Uncategorized with tags , , on April 7, 2007 by Dark Knightingale

I decided to add a couple more songs of mine for your enjoyment and review. The first, of course, is "See You Tonight" which was completed in November of 2006, and was originally going to be on a CD called "Virtual Kings". This CD title was put on the back burner to simmer for a while. I plan to include "See You Tonight" on my next CD, currently called "Library". (This CD title may change)

The second song is "Fixin' To Rain Again" which is from my "Senseless Crimes" CD, released in June of 2006. And the third song is called "Premonition". It is also from my "Senseless Crimes" CD.

I hope you find them to be enjoyable, and I look forward to your reviews!

Knightraven: “See You Tonight”

Posted in Uncategorized with tags , , , on April 5, 2007 by Dark Knightingale

I don't know why it is, but it seems that I can't get a better quality recording of this here. It does sound cleaner at my Garage Band site, but this sounds pretty good 'tho. I am posting this again, with lyrics, for the benefit of some new people here at my Vox page.

"See You Tonight" is the newest song I have, right at this moment. It was completed, and posted, in November of 2006. The comments I've received on this song were very positive, and has been called "the best I've done so far". (I'm not sure that's entirely true, but I did like reading that in their comment) I've posted the lyrics below, and on the MP3 page you go to when you click to listen, for your convienience.

The 1st video version of this is too large to upload here, but you can find it online at Yahoo.com and YouTube.com. -Just type Knightraven in the search box to find it. It has an extra Bass line and an extra vocal line that's not on this MP3 version… -Yet…

I have more music posted online at http://www.garageband.com/artist/Knightraven  The MP3's there are 100% FREE to listen to, and 100% FREE to download. Most of what's posted there is from my 2006 "Senseless Crimes" CD. Feel free to listen to them, and write to me here to let me know what you thought of them!

                                                                See You Tonight

                                                  Lyrics: Nelson;  Music: Nelson, Owcarz

                                                                       c2006

Oh yeah… -Yeah… -I really want to see you tonight.

(Tonight…, Tonight…, Tonight.)

1) I could tell you a million things but, oh -Which way to do it…? 'Cause I find a million lies there, -Ooh, -I'm tryin' to elude it… It's high time we set things right…, -And it's got to be tonight…, -To look you deep in your eyes and say I'd really like to see you tonight.

Cho:) Tonight…, Tonight……………………. Tonight.

(I really wanna see you tonight)

2) I'm tangled, tied up inside each time I see your face… And old words spring up inside, but none that earn your grace… It's high time we set things right…, I've finally seen the light… And, I've got to let you know right now… -I really want to see you tonight.

(Cho 2x's)

3) I could tell you a million dreams, but I know one would do it… and I know if you're by my side, it won't take much to make it… It's high time we made this right, and I'll try with all my might… And I'm going to let you know right now… -I'd really like to see you tonight.

(Cho 4x's)

4) I can feel there's something missing… -A piece that's torn away… And I'm tired of being denied, I've got to make a way… It's high time we made this right, so don't put up a fight… Take me within your arms and say I'm really glad to see you tonight.

(Cho 4x's)

-I really wanna see ya…
